Bob Downes of The Wandering Press is the author of eight books, most of which have a Northern Michigan connection. His best-selling “Biking Northern Michigan” guidebook offers cycling routes throughout Leelanau County and beyond, while his historical novels, “Windigo Moon” and “The Wolf and The Willow” celebrate the culture of the prehistoric Anishinaabek. His forthcoming nonfiction book, “Raw Deal: The Indians of the Great Lakes and the Theft of Native Lands” probes the bad-faith treaties made with Michigan’s Native peoples.
A veteran cyclist, Bob frequently offers lectures on subjects ranging from world travel to cycling and Native America and is a veteran of many art fairs and farm markets.
